The Linköping - Lund Initiative on IT and Mobile Communication
Information technology and mobile communication is changing at an unprecedented rate. Traditional wireless telephones are developing into devices with far-reaching capabilities. The consequences are affecting all sectors of industry and society. It is urgent to approach these challenges in a broader and more effective context, where traditional software engineering, electronics, embedded systems and communication engineering are complemented with methods in vision, visualization, automatic control, sensor fusion, artificial intelligence, and new software paradigms.
The Linköping - Lund Initiative on IT and Mobile Communication (eLLIIT) is a large coalition, pooling complementary competences at the universities of Linköping and Lund, and two selected research groups at Halmstad and Blekinge. It is designed to approach the future problems in IT and mobile communication in a cohesive and broad manner. Three long range research themes are defined, and six application areas are selected that cover wide challenges in industry and society: Mobile Broadband, Industrial Automation, Automotive and Aeronautics, Smart Buildings, e-Health, and Networks in Society.
